The festival of lights
Light over darkness
On Diwali, homes glow with small clay lamps called diyas, to celebrate light winning over darkness, and good winning over evil.
Dodge and burn is a craft of light too. You lift the light where a face should glow and deepen the shadows where it should fall away, and the face comes alive.
So this Diwali, I'm sharing a little light with you: something beautiful to learn, to make, and to keep.
Happy Diwali to you and everyone you love.
May your home be full of light, your year full of good news, and your camera full of beautiful pictures.
